We are an organization located in the historic village of Mystic, Connecticut. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3263 was chartered in 1947 and named in honor of Hugo A Simonelli who was the first native Mystic resident killed in action during WW II. The first commander of the post was Henry Thibeault, who was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. Our purpose is to provide assistance for active duty and retired service men and women. Acknowledging that their service was or is done with courage, dedication, and pride. We maintain a true allegiance to the USA by upholding its Constitution and Laws. We will preserve and defend the USA from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I am a retired Master Chief Fire Control Technician Submarines FTCM(SS). I served in the Submarine force for 25.5 years, mostly stationed here on the Submarine base. I made 14 Strategic Deterrent Patrols on Three different SSBN's. USS GEORGE BANCROFT SSBN 643(B) , USS CASIMIR PULASKI SSBN 633(G), & USS ULYSSIS S. GRANT 631 (G). I also served on the USS BILLFISH SSN 676 as CHIEF F THE BOAT "COB". After retiring from the Navy I worked for the State of CT. as a Correction officer for eleven years.

Bryan has been a resident of the Mystic area since being stationed at the Groton Subbase in 1985. He is was a nuclear trained machinist mate serving in M-Division on the USS Whale and USS Gato, as well as a serving on the submarine tender USS Fulton and three years as an instructor at the Groton Subbase. Bryan's wife, Elena, is a lifelong area resident, and both Bryan and Elena enjoy the outdoors, spending time with their fur babies, and supporting vets and the community.

Our post is comprised of veterans and auxiliary members. The auxiliary holds their own charter and make no mistake, they are the glue that holds the post together! Their support and focus on supporting the post's mission/vision is an integral component to the post's success. Without them, we don't succeed!

To qualify to become a member of the VFW you must meet the following 2 requirements:
1) Honorable Service - You are either currently serving or Separated from the US Armed Forces under honorable conditions. If you received a general discharge, under honorable conditions must have been met.
2) Service in war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or hostile waters.
Note: Both of the above requirements can usually be found on the Veteran's DD-214. You can find more information on the www.VFW.org website.
You must be related to a veteran who has served overseas in a location of foreign conflict, earning the campaign medals eligible. That veteran can be a living or deceased spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent or grandchild. Much more information is available at www.vfwauxilliary.org website.
